Went here twice at this point and both times were amazing. The customer service here is the best, our waitress was so genuine and kind. Almost feels like you're eating at someone's house (in a good way!). We usually get the vegetarian platter with the 8 sides. It's so good and more than enough food for 3 people. Every single one of those sides are so so tasty. I also get a side of mithmita and green sauce which to me are a must! Another plus is that this place is very affordable. Get the Ethiopian coffee too--I'm not one to like black coffee but it's actually not bitter and just very flavorful. We really enjoyed that!

Oh my gosh, I've never tried Ethiopian food. Hubby took me to this establishment and everything was great about it from the customer service the ambience and the food. The server took time and explain the menu to us and made some recommendations. If you haven't had Ethiopian food or looking for an Ethiopian restaurant I can't compare. Go to Abugida Ethiopian Cuisine and Cafe because this place won't disappoint. I will return. It was amazing and on Saturdays They have jazz from 6 PM to 9 PM - such a gem in the Woodbridge area. Don't take my word for it- give it a try.

It was a very nice experience dining at this restaurant. Good vegan options. The cauliflower fritters with the green chili dip were excellent. Tried the vegetarian sampler, and it was great as well. I am really glad we decided to stop at this place. The decor was unique, with stories on the walls making for an interesting read while we waited. Our server, Hani, was very pleasant and welcoming. She suggested what we could order.

This was my first time trying Ethiopian cuisine, and I loved the food! I ordered the appetizer Abeba Gomen-the crispy cauliflower paired very well with the accompanying spicy green dipping sauce. The Sampler of 8 vegetarian dishes with injera was also amazing. All the items were unique, flavorful, but my favorite was the Misir wot, which was creamy and delicious. It was a wholesome meal, and the portions were big (our order was sufficient for two people). We went on a Saturday evening, and the ambiance was nice and relaxed, with live jazz music playing. Our server, Hani, was very friendly, and overall the service was excellent. The prices are very reasonable, but one point to note is that a 15% gratuity is already included in the bill. So, check the bill before you tip to avoid accidentally tipping twice, as I did. It was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone, especially vegetarians trying to explore Ethiopian cuisine.

Hands down. 12/10. I wish I took more pictures. Everything is amazing. Super friendly staff that will really talk you through everything or any questions on the menu. Portion to value ratio is spot on, PLUS you can get in-house roasted coffee beans! My son (15) is a picky eater, this is one of his absolute favorite places!! If i could make a recommendation- 5 veggie sampler Flaming tower of steak (Manchester?) Flaming ground beef she scooped in the middle of the sampler And either a chicken or lamb dish, again right in the middle of the vegetables. Been there twice and probably one of my preferred spot in the area. Just go hungry

Was looking for Ethiopian food in the Woodbridge area and stumbled upon this restaurant! The establishment had a pretty and cute aesthetic to it, and the owner seemed to be a big soccer/football fan as it had Manchester United flag hanging from the ceiling. Also, a lot of their dishes were named after some English soccer teams, which I thought was very unique. The food was pretty good and flavorful. I got the 7 choice veggie platter and it was delicious but a tad bit bland. I loved that it was not oily as some other restaurants have theirs come out very oily. I also got beef tibs to share and it was plenty of food for 2! The only thing is that I wished that gave us some extra injera. It was not enough for the amount of food we got. It was a very nice Ethiopian restaurant and if it wasn't for Yelp, we wouldn't have found it. What a gem!

I would describe my entire dining experience at Abugida as - Ten over ten minus NOTHING!!! It was wonderful!! I learned from the server that 'Abugida' means alphabet in Amharic... Which then pieced all of the pieces of the puzzle/questions that I had about the beautiful decor of the resturant together. The menu has a range of options that are well suited for anyone with a range of dietary preferences. Vegan Vegetarian Pescatarian Gluten free The food was also very authentic, freshly prepared and most importantly really felt as if it was made with love. The Sambusas were AMAZING & the Shekla Tibs stole my heart & taste buds!!! If you'd like to experience traditional Ethiopian coffee again or for the first time, this would be a great place to have it!!! The coffee beans are literally roasted in front of you and then freshly ground and prepared!! It goes without saying that I will definitely be back... And I'm looking forward to it!

Was looking for Ethiopian food in the Woodbridge area and stumbled upon this restaurant! The establishment had a pretty and colorful aesthetic to it, and the owner seemed to be a big soccer/football fan as it had Manchester United flag hanging from the ceiling. Also, a lot of their dishes were named after English soccer teams, which I thought was pretty funny. The food was good and flavorful. I got the 7 choice veggie platter and it was tasty but a tad more bland than other Ethiopian restaurants I've tried. However, I loved that it was not as oily, and I felt very healthy eating a variety of veggies and lentils. I've eaten at many Ethiopian restaurants and usually always order the veggie combo; Abugida's veggie combo included beets, which I had never tried before at an Ethiopian restaurant. I also got beef tibs to share and it was plenty of food for 2! Service was great, our waitress was very kind. The only thing is that I wished they gave us some more injera, as it was not enough for the amount of food we ordered.
